V-bonds

Our V-Bond material is unique: it brings together the specific material characteristics of at least two components, while creating a non-separable connection between them. The advantages gained make the material composite much more than the sum of its (component) parts.

With the idea of the V-Bond, the non-separable connection between steel sheet and plastic, VIEBAHN made the first damage-free transport of vehicle and chassis parts a reality 40 years ago.
We have focused on continually developing this idea and setting the highest benchmarks for transport racks with our innovative components, precisely formed parts and reliable fastening mechanisms.

The material

The material

The main feature of V-Bond shows a one-sided coating with a non-separable steel-plastic connection which differs in SOLIDS and FOAMS.
The colours symbolise the hardness of the coating.

Solids

Solids are all-plastic coatings in which thickness and degree of hardness is variable. Solid V-bond is available in various material thicknesses. The thickness of the metal sheets is however always 1.5 mm and is included in all thickness specifications.

›  5.0 - 5.5 mm (standard measurement)
›  3.5 - 4.0 mm (slimline)
›  up to 12 mm (extra large)
›  Further thicknesses of metal sheets
   are available on request

Foams

Foams are foam structure coatings which exhibit high cushioning and adjustment characteristics. Foam V-bond is available in various material thicknesses.
The thickness of the metal sheets is however always 1.5 mm and is included in all thickness specifications.

Sandwich coating

A sandwich coating of both types is also possible in order to combine the shock-absorbing property of the foams with the firm property of the solids.

ESD

It is also possible for all V-Bond to be manufactured as ESD capable.

Reaction to fire

In accordance with the test certificate as proof of reaction to fire according to DIN 4102, part 1, our material fulfills the requirements of fire material category B2 for normal flammability materials.
According to DIN 4102-1, section 6.2.6.1 our product is without burning droplets. According to DIN 4102-1, section 7, our material is classified with the category DIN 4102-B2.

RESULTS:

›  Height of highest flame: 30 mm
›  Time of the highest flame: 15 seconds
›  Reaching the measurement mark: no

Based on the above results, the tested material fulfilled the requirements set out in DIN 4102 Part 1 Section 6.2.1 and can therefore be considered as having “normal flammability” (building material class B2) in accordance with DIN 4102.

The material is self-extinguishing when tested in accordance with Section 6.2. It therefore does not produce burning melt or droplets.

Processing of V-Bond

Processing of V-Bond

V-Bond can be made into any possible shape in sheet metal construction.

According to the individual customer's specification, the material is cut, punched, bent into shape, and delivered ready to install.

  • slider_verformung.jpg

V-Bond sheets

V-Bond sheets have a maximum size of 900 x 2700 mm, but are usually delivered pre-cut. Individually cut to length and hole-punched, they can be optimally manufactured to perfectly fit the contours of the transported goods.
We use galvanized steel as standard in 1.5 mm thickness, but we will coat with various thicknesses and also various materials such as stainless steel, aluminum or black plate sheets on customer request.

Shaping

The shaping of the V-Bond is made simple, precise and durable by the steel backing. The accurate fit provides the greatest possible protection to your goods.

Fixing

To eliminate damage to the transported goods by the fastenings, the punched holes are always countersunk. This keeps the rivet or screw head below the surface of the plastic.

Deep drawing

Example of V-Bond on a kitchen sink deep drawing:

The deep drawing of 575 x 575 mm V-bond in the shape of a kitchen sink shows how hard-wearing and therefore how high in quality our V-Bond is.

The plastic has neither ripped nor has it lost its connection with the sheet metal. Contrary to conventional deep drawn parts in plastic, the V-Bond alternative offers significantly greater stability. Support structures can therefore be partially omitted.

Quality rather than low-cost

Quality rather than low-cost

In the long term, our solutions have a far better price/performance ratio than cheaper solutions.

Low-cost solutions are significantly costlier in the long run.

Glued foam materials or rubber, felt-covered wooden supports, cardboard boxes, bubble wrap or V-Bond copies are neither long-lasting nor do they provide sufficient protection. Replacements are commonly carried out with these kinds of materials, which are not only time-consuming in the turn-over of transport containers but are, more importantly, very costly - not taking into account the possible damages caused to the goods.
